Teaching Staff

Mick Sirianni H.O.D

Mick's Art attempts to define the Human Condition. His Photography examines Personal Relationships of people drawn together consciously and randomly.

"I find that the learning atmosphere here at PIC is particularly appealing and extremely encouraging for the creative and expressive demands of the prospering photographer/image maker."

"I sometimes feel I can relate Anthropology too strongly in my image making. But then I become absorbed in the technical aspects of materialising my concerns. The relationship I have with Photography is two-fold. The Craft and Vision; and I do have a ticket to vacillate."

Kevin Birks Student Photography/Welfare/Publicity

"Having a background in film and advertising: (Diploma Art and Design - Graphics, Preston Institute of Technology, Grad. Dip. Ed.), I am fascinated with "visual media" and the inherent challenge associated with effectively communicating ideas. PIC provides me opportunities to explore emerging imaging technologies.

It is important to keep in mind that technical procedures of Photography are demystified and presented to the student directly and concisely. We encourage students to view "techniques" as tools which give expression to their conceptual ideas.

PIC offers a unique learning environment where students are engaged in a course that is conscious of evolving technologies and provides a curriculum that is relevant for the times."

Gayle Slater Photography/MultiMedia

Gayle has been involved in photography since 1979. She has exhibited regularly and has work printed in a variety of publications. Her work has been acquired by both public and private collectors.

Gayle's interest lies in the expansion of the creative mind via the exploration of ideas and methods of working.

"I find the teaching environment at the Photographic Imaging College to be both stimulating and creative for students and staff."

Gayle's solo show at the Photographer's Gallery 344 Punt road South Yarra, Melbourne Victoria Australia, is still on line.

Stuart Murdoch Photography/Web - Computer coordinator

"Whilst working here @ PIC I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students whose passion is photography.

It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to watch students grow and blossom in their chosen interest of photography, whilst studying with us.

The size of the course means there is an atmosphere of mutual respect — which in turn allows for individual attention for each student, thus adding to the quality of the experience of each student studying here — providing them with an outstanding educational experience."

Stuart is also in charge of photoshop workshops and summer schools, further expanding his contact with an even more diverse group of people. He's also greatly enamoured by the state of the internet and it's ablity to share and spread ideas, he has had a personal website, since around 2002, and a blog since 2004, he now uses the internet to publish work in a variety of formats using a variety of tools.
