Course Dates

General Information

Semester dates for TAFE certificate and diploma courses follow the dates assigned by the respective Australian states and territories. It is common for classes to begin on or about the 7th to the 14th of February. Variations are due to calendar dependent issues such as public holidays, weekends, leap years and nominal changes made by education department authorities.

If you are completing your K12 (HSC / VCE) this year you will be processed in early to mid January. A successfull completion of Year 12  English is a mandatory entry requirement.

First semester commences no later than the 14th of February and ends no later than the 28th of June. Second semester commences no later than the 14th of July and the academic year closes no later than the 22nd of December.

Applications for course entry are generally made from early December to mid January. You are normally advised of course entry approval in mid to late January if you have completed your K12 ( VCE / HSC). Formal enrollment begins in mid January and ends in early February for first time students. Course withdrawal and course alteration forms are processed until early April for first semester modules only. You are generally advised of the enrollment variation procedures during enrollment, but it is normal for all institutions to allow enrollment variations for the first four to eight weeks of each semester. Late fees may apply for late withdrawals from courses. Late enrollments may also incur late fees and in cases where classes are full no late enrollment may be possible.

Late enrollments are usually considered until no later than eight weeks after commencement of classes.

The first semester generally ends mid June and the second semester generally starts early July. The semester break can vary from two to three weeks. The academic year ends on or about the 20th of December.

Final assessment periods range from mid October to early December and marks are posted prior to the re-enrollment period in early December. Continuing students are processed during the early December re-enrolment period.

If you choose to discontinue studies with PIC your fees will be refunded. PIC will refund all fees except $100 administration fee and $110 for each week you attended full time classes at PIC.
