Assessment in our Photography Course
Assessment at PIC is conducted, using a variety of approaches, they all have one thing in common though, attendance.
As a minimum requirement to pass both the Certificate and the Diploma Courses offered at PIC, you MUST meet the 85% minimum attendance requirement.
The other requirements for assessment are as follows,
- Completion of all assignments, essays and tests by the due date, usually the end of each term. Assignments come in many shapes and forms. Some are practical, some are theoretical, some are tests which can be taken online. Each assignment's assessment criteria and due dates will be clearly pointed out by the instructor in the class, this makes attendance even more critical.
- Participation in all group activities as required by each module.
- Submission of a completed folio by the due dates.
Assessment Policy
All assessment of modules will be conducted in accordance with the assessment guidelines of the curriculum.
All assessment processes shall be valid, reliable, fair and flexible.
All assessment of participants will be undertaken by qualified assessors and will involve the use of industry endorsed assessment guidelines.
Assessment processes will cover the broad range of skills and knowledge needed to demonstrate competency and will integrate knowledge and skills with their practical application.
Assessment processes will cover both on and off the job components of assessment.
Assessment processes will provide for the recognition of competencies no matter how, where or when they have been acquired.
Assessment procedures and the criteria for judging performance will be made clear to all individuals seeking assessment.
Individuals are able to challenge assessment decisions in accordance with the Grievance process.
PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGING COLLEGE will maintain and operate a secure, permanent and reliable system for recording and storing assessment outcomes.
Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGING COLLEGE will indicate the modules that the individual has satisfactorily completed.
PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGING COLLEGE will establish a system for the ongoing monitoring and review of assessment processes.
Participants must maintain an 85% level of attendance.
All assignments are to be handed in by the due date. The due date will be given at the time the assignment is set. Any late assignments handed in lose 10% per week, after 5 weeks the assigment receives an automatic fail.
